I am new to the concept of grey water reuse, and happened on this site. I am starting a very unique business- a small coffee kiosk, that will not be hooking up to a septic, or sewer. The kiosk will be tied down as a mobile home. The system for the existing sink catches the grey water in containers. The original idea with the department of Agriculture was to transport that to a sink in a grocery store. They will approve this method. The county I am in does not like this idea. Since I am now required to put in a good deal of landscaping, I would like to resubmit using the water to water my plants and trees. I am under a bit of a time constraint, so I would love any advice, and or direction to articles that are cheap and easy to propose this method to the county. I need advise on cheap organic cleaners for dishes, sterilization of coffee machine and utensils that will be good enough to use and approved by the Agriculture Department, and not hurt the environment, as well as what not to use. Thank you for any help!

You can get the pipe from the greywater storge tank directly to the garden where you can water them without spending extra time on it. Try not to use harsh chemical based soaps or chemicals in cleaning the utensils or the coffee machine as that will be mixed in water that you will use to water the plants

Thanks Laura, that was very helpful. I wanted to find the right cleaners and I will research the code regarding grey water systems in my state.

I would recommend Oasis all purpose soap for dishes and hydrogen peroxide based sterilizers (instead of chlorine).

I don’t know of any mobile greywater systems that are permitted in my state (CA) and I can’t quite visualize where your landscaping is in relationship to the kiosk…. but depending on what state you are in, I would recommend installing a sink in the landscape area, with a greywater system that is up to your state’s code (eg. a branched drain system if you were in California) and then dump the container of greywater you generate from the kiosk into the sink so it is distributed to the landscape via the system you’ve constructed.

Hope this makes sense.
