(Oakland) Defining a New Northern California Landscape
23rd October 2015 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
This one-day seminar is the latest addition to the Pacific Horticulture Changing Times, Changing Gardens series. Join Pacific Horticulture and Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), California Chapter, as we investigate the new normal of landscaping in a dry Northern California.
California’s drought is our opportunity to become advocates for a broad reaching design movement that respects the natural attributes of our region and promotes the health, diversity, and sustainability of our landscapes.
This seminar focuses on the vital importance of landscaping for where we really are rather than modifying our location through copious amounts of water. It provides a thoughtful setting where you’ll explore design and material choices in harmony with the natural conditions dictated by our geography and climate.
Leading regional experts will offer creative inspiration and hardworking ideas not just for replacing lawns, but creating beautiful watershed-wise landscapes that support a home for pollinators, and embody the principles of climate appropriate design.
