I discovered Ecos laundry detergent causes me a horribly itchy, red rash. Based on ingredients and experience, it seems to be the preservatives, most likely methylisothiazolinone. I was going to swith to Oasis, but it also contains methylisothiazolinone, along with two other, similar preservatives. At this point I don’t know what I can use that is both safe for greywater systems and my skin.

I found a brand called “Eco Me” that claims to be safe for greywater systems and appears to be free of sodiums and methylisothiazolinone, but I don’t find it listed on any greywater recommendation lists.

Anyone know if this brand is truly safe for greywater use?

Hi Lee,

I am not familiar with that brand, but so long as it doesn’t contain boron (borate) and is low in sodium ingredients it should be safe for your plants. Feel free to send the link to the ingredients or upload a picture if you’d like me to take a closer look.

I hope you find a product that’s safe for both you and the plants!
