I’m installing a simple gray water system for a small vacation cabin. I have a kitchen sink and lavatory sink that needs to discharge to a gray water system. I would like to run the waste water into a simple mulch basin with an irrigation emitter box. Would it be prudent to run the urine discharge line from my Separett urine diverting toilet into the same mulch bed. Would there be an odor problem or will the urine overwhelm the mulch basin.
Thanks,

Hi,
If you are near any water body you’ll want to be careful about discharging the urine into a mulch basin and may need a soak-away garden instead. Urine contains lots of nitrogen which could pollute a waterway. (100 feet away is a typical set-back for using greywater, which has less nitrogen than urine.)
If you are not too close to the water, then I think it should work well to combine greywater and urine. I would use at least two basins, or more, depending on how much greywater and how much urine will be generated.
Good luck with your system!
