I make my own laundry detergent. When we I’ve to our homestead we will use a grey water system. I’m pretty sure my detergent recipe right now won’t fly. Are there any homemade detergent recipes out there? My current detergent is made of Borax, washing soda and felsnaptha soap.

Unfortunately I don’t know of any homemade laundry detergent recipes that are plant-friendly/greywater-safe. Laundry soap alternative that are greywater safe are soap nuts, or the ionic balls (one brand is called “wonder ball”. I’ve used commercial brands of Oasis, ECOS, and Vaska, as well tried out the soap nuts and wonder ball.

And from the products you’ve used, what seems to work the best (gets the clothes clean, least scum or foam, etc)?
