Our laundry-to-landscape greywater system was installed in 2012. The garden is heavy adobe soil, which has migrated into the basin in places. Is there a guideline on when a mulch basin should be replaced? And does it require a greywater expert to do the work? Thanks.

Hi Judy,
Mulch should be replaced “as needed,” which is usually every year or two.
This webpage below has some more info plus videos of mulch basin maintenance. Most people can do the maintenance themselves. If it hasn’t been done in a long time you’ll need a shovel and more mulch. You may need to unearth buried outlets, but it’s usually nothing technical.
Hope this helps!
