I am researching installing a L2L system with no exterior walls which would require having the vacuum breaker inside the laundry room. My concern is with the potential for the vacuum breaker leaking inside. Do you have any experience with this and is this even an issue I should be concerned with? Thank you.

Hi,

Its pretty common to have the autovent inside. There are other ways to create the “vacuum break” so I’m not sure what specific method you’re considering. I would recommend using an autovent or AAV, they don’t leak unless they are defective.

I think it’s fine to have the autovent inside the house, but be sure that it’s visible  (e.g. not behind a wall) in case it ever breaks and does leak. The only ones I’ve seen leak did immediately b/c the part was defective, but at some point it will break down and then leak (I don’t know how long this will take, the oldest system I know of is about 10 years old and it hasn’t leaked yet. )
