It really depends on what you’re trying to accomplish with your rainwater harvesting system. Landscape-direct, rain garden type systems are lowest cost, but the water isn’t accessible to you later on like it is in a tank system. Tank systems are usually best for vegetable gardens and indoor use, while in-ground, rain garden systems are best for managing stormwater and growing native plants.
