I recently installed a L2L system. My two trees have semicircular mulch basins, but the surrounding yard area is unplanted. I’m planning on sheet mulching the yard (cardboard covered by mulch); can I place that (the cardboard + mulch) over the L2L mulch basins, or should they remain uncovered?

Thanks for your reply. I’m thinking that sheet mulching the entire area (while keeping the outlet areas accessible) will be easier than fitting the cardboard to avoid the mulch basins.

If your basins are already mulched, I’m wondering why you’d want to sheet mulch over them? Maybe it’s not necessary (?)

I don’t think there would be any problems with doing it, so long as you don’t sheet mulch over your greywater outlet area, since you’ll need access to this part for annual maintenance.
