I’ve found a few sources that say that by using potassium chloride in a water softener the backwash from the system can be used to water plants. Is it true that this water is actually beneficial to plants?

Hi Rebecca,
I’m not sure. I know that potassium chloride is better than sodium chloride (for plants) but I don’t know if it would be considered beneficial. You could take a sample of the water and send it to a lab to test for “irrigation suitability” to find out.
Best wishes,
Laura
