Speakers:

Laura Allen

Laura Allen is a founding member of Greywater Action and has spent the past 20 years exploring simple and ecological water solutions. She is the lead author of the San Francisco Graywater Design Guidelines for Outdoor Irrigation, and authored The Water-Wise Home: How to Conserve and Reuse Water in Your Home and Landscape (Storey Press, 2015) and Greywater, Green Landscape (2017). She’s participated in state greywater code developments in California and Washington State and is on the technical advisory committee for IAPMO’s Water Efficiency Standard (We-Stand).

Kory Russel

Dr. Kory Russel’s (www.koryrussel.com) work focuses on the design, implementation, and experience of non-networked water and sanitation services specifically in resource constrained locations around the world. He did foundational research and design on Container-Based Sanitation in collaboration with SOIL in Haiti. He also helped found the Container-Based Sanitation Alliance (cbs.global) in 2016, the Landscape for Humanity initiative (www.landscape4humanity.org) in 2019, and is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Science at the University of Oregon. He is also currently the Chair of the CBSA. He holds a BS in Environmental Biology and MS in Environmental Science from Taylor University as well as an MS and PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.

Pat Lando

Pat Lando is the executive director of Recode and a practicing landscape architect and green infrastructure consultant. He has been part of finding permit pathways for a wide range of projects from rainwater to blackwater; from residential to campus scale. Pat works to eliminate hurdles that allow for ‘next generation’ water reuse in California, Oregon and Washington.  His long-term vision is to optimize our water resources within a dynamically stable nutrient cycle.

Nicole Cousino

Nicole is a regenerative-focused creative practioner with a background in sustainability planning, filmmaking, renewables fuels and sustainable sanitation. In 2015, she launched Nature Commode, the first portable compost toilet company in the US and operated from 2016-late 2019. She is embarking on a new venture to create Newledo Exploration Hub, a regenerative innovation and education center at a former dairy farm, located just outside Newport.
