Collected water must be discharged below grade or mulch and allowed to perc, no pooling, no wetlands, got it.
I am contemplating daisy chaining 3 septic tanks for planters and irrigating the first one per the standard and allowing the water to move through the 3 tanks by gravity. Is is withing the standards to collect whatever ends up in the third tank for conventional irrigation with storage and pumps?

Adding details, my goal was to discharge the greywater per standards and divert the filtered water (+ rainwater) & pump it uphill to a storage tank for fire suppression/irrigation. I am attempting to understand where the thresholds are for percolation vs. fair game to collect as well water….
All this because the area we want irrigate is UPHILL from the collection point.

Hi Patrick,
What you described in your first post is not allowed per code. If I were you, I’d collect only rainwater to store for fire prevention. The greywater you can pump to irrigated uphill and keep your landscape plants healthy and hydrated, without any storage of water. The tank would be small, like 30 gallons or so, and be pumped out at least once a day. These would be two separate systems! Hope this helps.
Best,
Laura
