From what I’ve read, local authorities in Oregon accept the site-contructed toilet provisions of 2011 Reach; is this everywhere? Our land is in Josephine County, which tends very red.
The only reference I found to bucket systems in Oregon was a 2020 Portland application. Is it true that transfer buckets (WE-Stand) are still prohibited in the rest of the state?
Thanks,

Hi,
I don’t believe that your area has adopted the reach code, but you could ask to use it anyway. If you’re seeking a permit, you could take that regulation to the county and ask to follow it.
There is a more recent version of composting toilet regulations in the 2023 WE-STAND (Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard) published by IAPMO, that you could request to use.
Good luck with it!
